I am in France on holiday with my wife and two friends. We are travelling across northern France and continuing on into Belgium. Tonight we have been to 'Au Bureau' in Amiens. We found the place online. Ot was close enough to our hotel and had good reviews. We arrived without a booking and were guided to a table by Louanne. We were a little concerned that is is a sports bar. We have all, separately, had less than good experiences in loud, laddish, bad food sports bars on the UK. I am VERY pleased to report that we had no such issue here. Louanne dealt with my wife's requests in terms of varying the menu items. Her English is good enough to achieve this with only occasional add ins in French where a specific word was not translating easily. Our respective meals - 3 of the four were varied to some extent - all arrived as requested. We ordered desserts too. They arrived very swiftly and smoothly. We were in no rush to leave because the weather outside was really grotty. We were not pushed to move in at any time. The atmosphere was calm, relaxed, friendly and safe. Two of the group have said, following previous experiences of France being only Paris, that their opinion of the French is improving by the day. When it came to paying - at the bar as we have found everywhere this week, a very friendly male colleague took our payment and moved quite easily between French and English. He confirmed that there are lots of UK and Australian visitors to the area. He also mentioned 'ANZAC' Day. We discussed the significance of the day, the very early start for the Australians and the factt hat they tend, after the commemorative ceremony, to drink a lot ! He also agreed with my wife and our friends that Louanne was very good. Will we return ? We have no plans to be in the area again but should that change the a swer is an emphatic YES.

Une équipe souriante qui rend l'expérience très agréable.
